HPS Jardine’s football experience helped Sony Computer Entertainment UK broker a deal with the English Schools’ FA. This grassroots partnership marked the launch of the PlayStation Schools’ Cup. Over 2,000 schools and 150,000 participants throughout England have benefited from this exciting initiative, which is now in its third season. Game on!


The partnership has attracted close to 30 leading Premier League ambassadors including Juan Mata, Harry Kane, Leighton Baines, James Milner and Jack Butland. During the season, the players support media-facing ‘Tie of the Round’ events which are the main activation to promote this grassroots initiative. The day is themed around the school staging a PlayStation Schools’ Cup fixture, with pupils enjoying PlayStation 4 gaming experiences, football coaching sessions and the highlight of the day – the Premier League player appearance.


The season then culminates in a footballing extravaganza for the PlayStation Schools’ Cup Festival, which sees 15 national finals staged across three days in a professional football stadium, all played out in a carnival atmosphere.


Such is the success of the media programme; PlayStation Schools’ Cup has delivered over 60 articles in national newspapers as well as regular high-profile broadcast coverage with the likes of BBC Football Focus, talkSPORT, Sky Sports’ Soccer AM and Game Changers programmes, as well as CBBC’s flagship grassroots football show Match of the Day Kickabout. A new YouTuber engagement initiative has also delivered fantastic results, with PlayStation Schools’ Cup content from key influencers invited to Tie of the Round events accumulating over two million views.
