CASE STUDY

Lewis Silverstone HPS JardineThe Formula 1 British Grand Prix, Silverstone

Working for long-term client Silverstone, HPS Jardine is in pole position to maximise its exceptional relationships within Formula 1 to develop traditional and digital media campaigns promoting the British Grand Prix. Key objectives are to reaffirm the Grand Prix as one of the UK’s premier sporting events and drive ticket sales.

The agency continues to secure support from some of Britain’s most high profile Formula 1 drivers and teams for engaging media previews. Campaigns range from uniting Lewis Hamilton, Sir Stirling Moss and the Mercedes W196, to working with McLaren, Jenson Button, Damon Hill, Martin Brundle and Johnny Herbert on social media content. To commemorate the 50th Grand Prix at Silverstone, HPS Jardine conceptualised, planned and delivered a series of classic parades, featuring British Grand Prix winners Sir Jackie Stewart, Emerson Fittipaldi, Alain Prost and Nigel Mansell. Showing Hamilton-like consistency, the agency maximises every broadcast, print and digital media opportunity to generate engaging preview content.

This year’s Formula 1 British Grand Prix, attended by the third largest crowd ever, was heralded as one of the best and most successful in years. The preview campaign exceeded all expectations with non-specialist coverage taking the event to new audiences. Coverage highlights ranged from broadcast – Saturday Kitchen, Chris Evans Breakfast Show, BBC Breakfast, Sky Sports News, CNN, BBC F1, BBC Radio Five Live – and national press – HELLO!, ZOO, Sunday Times: driving, Sun Woman, Radio Times – to regional broadcast and press and digital media outlets.
