Despite the limitations of the British weather, four ex-world champion riders-turned journalists arrived at Stowe Circuit, Silverstone for a test of the MGP3O – a four-stroke 250cc Moto3 bike and the pride and joy of HPS Jardine’s client, Mahindra Racing.

Mahindra is competing as a manufacturer in the Moto3 class of MotoGP, supplying four teams. As part of ongoing comms and social media activity Mahindra tasked HPS Jardine with increasing the profile of the bike and the brand.

Targeting three main MotoGP broadcast media outlets, Sky Italia, Eurosport and BT Sport, HPSJ invited their ex-professional riders/presenters to give the bike a spin.

Mahindra imageJumping at the chance, Neil Hodgson (former British and World Superbike Champion), Loris Capirossi and Christian Sarron (both former 250cc World Champions) and Dirk Raudies (a former 125cc World Champion) took turns to try out the bike and chat to the mechanics about its components and set-up.

Also trying out the MGP3O was Motorcycle News reporter and club racer Emma Franklin and MotoGP commentator Dylan Gray. Mahindra Racing’s factory team riders, Francesco Bagnaia and Jaunfran Guevara, were also on hand to provide tips and advice on mastering the lightweight machine.

A wet test meant taking it fairly steady, but fun was had by everyone and feedback from all the journalists was overwhelmingly positive. Emma Franklin brought the biggest smiles when she said: “Easily the best bike I’ve ever had the chance to ride. I won’t be forgetting that in a while.”
