Nissan’s LMP1 announcement proves a hit with the media

14271765733_9c1501cbc2_bOn Friday 23 May 2014, Nissan announced that in 2015 they will be entering into the LMP1 class of the 24 Hours of Le Mans and the FIA World Endurance Championship. HPS Jardine consulted on the event and was charged with attracting media to the announcement event and managing the press on the day. A successful invitation campaign meant that The Old Truman Brewery in London was packed out for the press conference, with 36 media in attendance including BBC Top Gear Magazine, Autosport, The Sun and international press from Spain, Belgium and France.

Over 150 news outlets around the world ran the story which also spread around social sites like wildfire – with over 5,000 posts on the launch day, rising to 19,000 in the week that followed. Over 99.3% of the social response was positive or neutral, showing how popular Nissan’s move into LMP1 has been.
